The nation's producer prices posted their highest growth in 28 months last month.
The Bank of Korea said Friday that the producer price index rose seven-point-three percent
last month from a year ago, posting the highest such growth since November 2008 when the
figure rose by seven-point-eight percent.
In particular, producer prices for agriculture, forestry and fishery products rose
16-point-two percent. Such prices have continued to post double-digit growth this year.
By item, producer prices for garlic jumped nearly 130 percent from a year ago, dried peppers
some 49 percent and apples nearly 45 percent.
The producer price index is a barometer of future consumer prices.
